You can have a contraceptive implant, an injection, or an IUD/IUS fitted when you have an abortion. Nexplanon (implant) and Depo-Provera (injection) can be arranged at the time of an abortion. Our surgeons can also fit (or if necessary remove) the Mirena coil (IUS) and conventional Intra-Uterine Devices (IUDs).
This is between five and ten years depending on which IUD you have fitted. The T-Safe coil (IUD) lasts for 10 years. The Mirena Coil (IUS) lasts and is licensed for 5 years. Our client advisors are trained to advise you on which option is the best for your circumstances.
