Upon your arrival at the clinic for your abortion consultation, you must book in at reception. You will be asked to take a seat in the waiting room before seeing the doctor.
A member of staff will collect you from the waiting room and take you into a private consultation room to confirm your details.
You will have a scan to confirm your pregnancy. This will be a date scan to determine how many weeks you have been pregnant. A doctor will complete some medical forms and ask you for some further information.
Two doctors must agree that your reasons for wishing to end your pregnancy comply with the 1967 Abortion Act. This will be explained to you and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions about your treatment as well as after-care and future contraception.
The information you give will be completely confidential. Our staff will not judge you or try to direct any decision. Our aim is to give you the information and advice you need to make an informed decision about your pregnancy and potential abortion.
You are entitled to ask for a female member of our staff to act as chaperone at any point during your visit.
If you would like counselling, arrangements can be made.
You can change your mind at anytime before the treatment starts.
