Do I need to tell anyone I am having an abortion?
You have a right to confidentiality if you are under 18 years old and we will not tell your parents or guardian, however, we do encourage you to tell a parent or other adult who can support you through this process. This could be a friend, family member, social worker or anyone else over 18 who you trust.
Can I consent to my own treatment?
We will make sure that you are fully aware of what is involved with the abortion treatment and as well, that you understand the procedure and the possible risks and complications involved, so you can agree to the treatment yourself. You may wish to discuss your decision with your partner but you do not have to and you do not need their consent for an abortion.
If you change your mind about having an abortion just let us know so we can cancel your appointment.
Will anyone be told I am having an abortion?
If you tell us anything that makes us feel you or another person may be at risk of harm we may have to talk to other professionals to ensure your safety. We have a duty of care to do this if we feel there is any risk of harm – but we will tell you if we need to do this and why.
Do I need to bring anyone with me for my treatment?
Ideally, if you are visiting one of our clinics for treatment and you are under 16 years old, you will have someone aged 18 or over to accompany you home after your treatment. You can bring a female adult of your choice who can stay with you throughout your treatment.
