During the coronavirus pandemic, NUPAS have made necessary arrangements to keep both our clients and staff safe. As an essential medical service, you can travel to the clinic to attend any necessary appointments and our clinics remain open. However, we have made the necessary changes to reduce all time spent in our clinics, whether you are taking the early medical abortion pill, or you are having a surgical abortion.
The initial consultation and full medical assessment necessary for any kind of abortion will in most cases take place over the telephone, this will be similar to our face to face consultations. Our trained nurses and midwives will discuss your decision, your medical history and your options with you (medical or surgical abortion).
To reduce any spread of infection, we ask that any appointments at the clinic are attended alone unless you are under 18.
Taking the Early Medical Abortion Pill during COVID-19
After your initial telephone consultation with a member of our highly skilled staff, your treatment options will be discussed. If your gestation is under 10 weeks and your medical history deems that it is appropriate for you, you will be offered the early medical abortion pill. We will send your abortion medication by post or you can collect the pack from one of our clinics. The pack will also contain instructions on how to administer the medication.
Please note that this service is currently only available to women resident in England.
Having a surgical abortion during the pandemic
After your telephone consultation you will be given an appointment to attend one of our clinics for surgical abortion.
